What Is Business Automation? (Plain English)

Ignore the adverts. Automation in a small business is boring on purpose: a job you already do the same way every week, done without someone copying, chasing, and filing by hand.

What it is

You already have a process. Enquiry comes in. Someone reads it. Someone types it into a list. Someone remembers to follow up. Someone types the invoice.

Automation is that chain, with the fetching and filling done for you. A person still says yes on the bits that would hurt if they went wrong.

It is not a robot in the warehouse. It is not a chat box on the website. It is not “AI strategy”.

What it is not

A new app you have to live in. If we cannot use your email, accounts, or spreadsheet, we are making you a second job.

Something that never needs a human. Approvals, odd cases, and anything that would embarrass you still come to you. That is the point.

Magic. If you cannot write the steps like you would train a new starter, we cannot automate them. That usually means the process is messy, which is useful to know.
