Fernside CMS

Operations

Fernside Studio's hosted editing environment, available as a £29/month add-on providing focused editing panels for approved sections only.

How Fernside CMS works

Unlike traditional CMS platforms that expose everything for editing, Fernside CMS provides controlled panels for specific sections we've designated as client-editable—headlines, testimonials, team bios, pricing tables, service descriptions.

You cannot break site structure, delete navigation, or accidentally destroy performance through plugin conflicts. The editing environment only exposes what's safe to change. Everything else remains under our management, ensuring consistent quality and fast load times.

What's included

The £29 monthly fee covers far more than editing access. It includes fully managed hosting on Cloudflare's edge network, automatic SSL certificates, uptime monitoring, daily backups, and security patches.

You never manage servers, renew certificates, or worry about security updates. We handle all technical infrastructure. Your only responsibility: updating content through the editing panels when needed.

Beyond self-service editing

Content or design changes outside approved editing areas go through our ticketed support system. Request changes, receive a fixed quote, approve, and we implement. This hybrid approach gives you autonomy for routine updates while maintaining quality for complex changes.

Unlike monthly retainers where unused hours evaporate, ticketed work is pay-as-you-go. Request nothing in a given month and pay nothing beyond the base CMS fee. Need extensive updates? Get quoted upfront with no surprises.

When Fernside CMS makes sense

If you update content monthly or more—rotating testimonials, adjusting service descriptions, publishing team changes—the CMS justifies its cost through time savings. For sites that update quarterly or less, requesting changes through support tickets often proves simpler.

Fernside CMS works best when editing needs are predictable and contained—updating specific sections regularly rather than wholesale content management across dozens of pages.
